Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the "sacraments of Christian initiation", whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace.
Catechism of the Catholic Church 1285
Confirmation has become the occasion at which the young adult renews his or her commitment to Christ before the church and receives the fullness of the Holy Spirit with anointing by the Bishop to serve his parish family and begin to taste the options of Lifetime Service. Preparation for the sacrament begins in the fall of the sophomore year.
The youth of the parish are prepared for Confirmation during 10th Grade Religious Education. Please contact Shelley Schlumpf for more details.
Preparation of adults for Confirmation is normally done through the RCIA program. For more information contact Father Michael.
